1 degree Celsius =

33.8°F

Formula: °F = °C × 1.8 + 32

Show the steps
  1. Multiply by 1.8: 1 × 1.8 = 1.8
  2. Add 32: 1.8 + 32 = 33.8 °F

Definitions used: t/°C = T/K − 273.15; t/°C = (t/°F − 32) / 1.8.

How each temperature unit is defined

These are the definitions the converter uses, as written in the source next to each one. Nothing is rounded before the calculation.

Temperature conversion questions

Why is temperature not a simple multiplication?

Because the scales start at different zeros. 0 °C is 32 °F and 273.15 K, so you must shift the number as well as scale it.

What is absolute zero in each scale?

Absolute zero is 0 K, which is −273.15 °C and −459.67 °F.

Is it “degrees Kelvin”?

No. The unit is the kelvin, symbol K, without the word degree or the ° sign: water freezes at 273.15 K.
